Sandrock first shows up in the first episode, taking on a small group of Alliance soldiers in the desert. Quatre is, of course, surrounded by his Maganac Corp. Sandrock flies up to two enemy suits, who had been searching for his atmosphere entry capsule, slices cleanly through both, and apologetically tells them they should have surrendered. He shows up again in the third episode. Trowa attacks a base in his Heavyarms Gundam, but runs out of ammunition. Sandrock shows up and the two Gundams fight for a minute or two until Quatre realizes that they should be allies. He opens his capsule door, runs out, and surrenders. This is the second time in the series that two Gundam pilots come into contact with each other, and the first time for Quatre and Trowa.
Sandrock and Heavyarms both help out at New Edwards, but go their seperate ways from there. Quatre remains at New Edwards to help with the bomb problem. He fights off enemy mobile suits with Duo while Hiiro contemplates his recent mistake (killing the Alliance's pacifists). After the incident at New Edwards, Quatre is out until the battle in Siberia. He takes the dummy route and almost gets killed, but Duo and Deathscythe show up and derail a train. The two of them fight off the enemy Leos, and of course, run off after Hiiro self destructs.
Quatra and Duo stay together until they leave for outer space, but Sandrock doesn't see anymore action until the spaceport attack. Sandrock and Deathscythe fight enemy suits, trying to get space capsules so they can return to outer space. They're beginning to realize they're fighting a losing battle when the other Gundams show up. While everyone else escapes into outer space, Quatre remains and covers their departure. Quatre sets Sandrock to self detonate and gets out. He blasts off into outer space and Sandrock explodes, destroying all nearby enemy mobile suits.
Sally Poe attempts to destroy the remains of Sandrock, but fails. The Maganac Corps recovers it and rebuilds it, and when Quatre returns to Earth with Hiiro, he gets his Gundam back. It aids in the fight for the Sanc Kingdom and Quatre goes back to outer space with Noin.
Once in outer space, Sandrock is outfitted for space combat aboard Howard's Peacemillion ship. When Trowa turns up after his near-death in Vayeate, Quatre goes to see him. The Colony is attacked and Quatre defends in Sandrock. Sandrock participates in several other space battles, and Hiiro outfits it with Zero System so that Quatre can better direct the other Gundam pilots. Quatre is reluctant to use it, but employs it once he realizes he needs it, and the battle is won. Afterwards, Quatre pulls out Zero System and tells Hiiro he won't be needing it. Sandrock obviously fights against Libra in the final battle, but has the same role as the other three Gundams that aren't Wing Zero. He fights some mobile dolls, runs around inside Libra, and then helps tear it apart until Zechs destroys the reactor and Hiiro destroys the ship.
Upon returning to outer space, Sandrock requires upgrades to operate properly in space. The result of the upgrades is Sandrock Kai. Sandrock Kai is basically the same mobile suit as Sandrock...the upgrades are certainly not as drastic as Deathscythe/Deathscythe Hell or Shenlong/Altolong. Anyway, here are the tech specs for Sandrock Kai.
