Heavyarms makes its first appearance in the series in an attack on a spaceport in the first episode. Obviously, Trowa completely destroys the facility in "Battle 001," as he called it. Heavyarms is not heard from again until episode three. Trowa makes an attack on an Alliance man riding around in a zeppelin, but runs out of ammunition. Heavyarms has that army knife, but against Alliance Specials forces in their Aries suits, that may not do a whole lot of good. One Aries attacks Heavyarms, but suddenly explodes. Sandrock and the Maganac Corps show up, and after getting rid of the Alliance soldiers, Trowa and Quatre, unaware that they're on the same side, fight. Quatre realizes this is wrong, surrenders, and the two become friends.
Heavyarms shows up again at New Edwards, where all five Gundam pilots meet for the first time. Treize Khushrenada, leader of OZ, handed out false information, and the Gundam pilots arrived to, hopefully, destroy OZ once and for all. Hiiro Yuy and his Wing Gundam succeeded only in killing the Alliance's pacifists, and while three Gundams stayed at New Edwards to stop a bomb, Heavyarms and Wu Fei, with his Gundam Shenlong, set off to find Treize.
Heavyarms and Shenlong both crash carriers into some OZ ships and emerge from the flames. Trowa fights on the same ship Lady Une is on, while Wu Fei goes straight for Treize. Heavyarms is successful in destroying several Leo suits, but an empty Leo is launched at it, and Heavyarms is thrown into the water, where it takes on an army of Cancer mobile suits. Not much of this battle is shown, but the fact that Trowa and Heavyarms are doing fine later on makes it clear that this battle was obviously won.
Heavyarms next shows up at the battle in Siberia. Trowa destroys the refueling facilities as he was ordered, and when Wing self detonated, Trowa and his Heavyarms rescued Hiiro and took him back to the circus where Trowa hides out.
Back at the circus, Hiiro recovered and Trowa lived without missions. The Gundams can't strike if a direct attack on the Colonies is a possible outcome. Finally, Trowa gets a good chance. The circus will put on a show for OZ soldiers, on an OZ base, and they want to use something big and new. Trowa volunteers to head the production. "It'll be my last grandstand show."
The show begins and Heavyarms stands in the shadows. The circus manager makes the little introduction, then the spot lights shine directly on the Gundam. The OZ soldiers, strangely enough, don't recognize it. Everyone's excited about the mobile suit, though. Heavyarms' gatling gun raises from its side and shoots through the tent, blowing up a plane. Trowa begins an attack on the base that is supposed to end with his self detonation, but Catherine, a girl from the circus, gets in his way. She runs up to him, gets in the cockpit, and talks him down from his suicide mission.
Heavyarms comes with Hiiro and Trowa to Antarctica, where Hiiro is to fight Zechs again. En route to the battlefield, Inspector Acht of OZ attacks. Trowa gets out in Heavyarms and destroys Acht and his ally mobile suits (Acht's death is especially cool, with a spinning move using the army knife that simply shreds Acht's Aries). They continue on to the south pole, where Zechs and Hiiro will fight. Because Hiiro won't accept a handout from Zechs, he borrows Heavyarms from Trowa.
Hiiro and Zechs fight, OZ shows up, and Zechs distracts them while Hiiro and Trowa escape. Soon after, the Gundam pilots return to outer space, but Heavyarms is left on the Earth.
Much, much, much later in the series, the Gundam pilots are together once again, attacking OZ and the White Fang. Trowa has left Heavyarms on the Earth, but due to amnesia from a battle against Quatre when he was crazy and using Wing Zero, Trowa doesn't remember where he's left Heavyarms. Sally Poe finds the Gundam and gives it to Hiiro Yuy, who takes it to outer space with him. Heavyarms is outfitted for fights in space, and Trowa returns to his Gundam.
Trowa eventually recovers his memory, and with the other Gundam pilots, he attacks Battleship Libra. During the battle, Heavyarms really doesn't do anything special, just fights some mobile dolls, tears around inside Libra, and is reduced to sit-and-watch when Hiiro blows up the last chunk of Libra. After the battle, the Gundam pilots go their separate ways, and Heavyarms isn't seen again (until Endless Waltz, anyway...).
When Heavyarms returns to outer space, it's upgraded for use in outer space. The result is Heavyarms Kai. The mobile suit's ability levels remain the same, but it it does change slightly, so here's the technical info for Heavyarms Kai.
