New Mobile Report Gundam Wing DVD: Operation 2
Operation 2
The second Gundam Wing DVD released by Bandai, Operation 2 is very much like the first DVD, Operation 1.

The menus are the same as before, with the inside of a mobile suit cockpit that displays different scenes from the disc's episodes on the viewscreens. Just Communication once again plays as the main menu background music, with regular series BGM playing on each of the submenus.

The disc features a short biography of Duo Maxwell and another of Zechs Merquise, and information about the Gundam Deathscythe. Its trailers can be found listed below. The bios aren't anything spectacular, but they're still cool. At the end of each bio is a small photo gallery.

The disc's insert once again has short summaries of each episode on the disc and a wire model of the Gundam Deathscythe with the mobile suit's specs. Unlike the first disc, which had a few screenshots from Endless Waltz and overall completely misplaced images, this one seems to have images for each episode summary that are actually FROM that episode, which leads one to believe that maybe Operation 1 was an accident (which would seem the logical conclusion anyway, since those images had nothing to do with the episode summaries they accompanied). The ads on the back of the insert are identical to before: Gundam W Operation 1, Cowboy Bebop session 1, Haunted Junction, Eatman 98, and Blue Sub 6: Blues. Unfortunately, no cool holographic inserts for the Gundam Deathscythe. Oh well...

Operation 2 contains episodes 6-10 in uncut sub/dub format. The first disc was pretty good, and the second disc completely blows it out of the water. Episode six revolves around a party at Relena's school following her return to Earth after her father's assassination. Episode 7 and 8 explain how OZ quickly eradicated the bulk of the United Earth Sphere Alliance and took control of the Earth. Episode 9 is the debut of Zechs' new mobile suit, Tallgeese, and the liberation of the Sanc Kingdom from the Earth Sphere Alliance. Episode 10 remains one of my favorite in the series, even after seeing it all and Endless Waltz. It centers around an OZ plan that's intercepted by the Gundams and the subsequent battle that takes place in Siberia, with a nice little "surprise" ending. Overall, good episodes. Aside from 10, definitely no where near the best in the series, but still worth owning on DVD. If you liked the first disc, you'll love the second.

Operation 1 was centered around Hiiro Yuy, and now Operation 2 is centered around Duo Maxwell. As you can see above, the cover art features Duo and Gundam Deathscythe, and although you can't see it here, the back of the case has some information about Duo and his Gundam. It's really nothing you probably didn't already know, but it's cool nonetheless.

If you like Gundam Wing, if you liked Operation 1, if you like mech anime in general, I'd recommend getting your hands on this disc.
